- If insults are the only thing you can muster in this debate, you existence must be truly pathetic. There is the Lilly Ledbetter Equal Pay Act available for discussion and even the Tea Party Republican's proposal that should be titled RAPISTS' RIGHTS. both of which I discuss in posts in this thread.
- by erasmus111 October 11, 2010 7:52 PM EDT In what is supposed to be the greatest country in the world, women make way less than a man. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Missed one of the accomplishments of this administration -- one of the Tea Party Roberts Court decisions was reversed with the Lilly Ledbetter Equal Pay Act in which CONGRESS and the President reversed the Roberts Court's barbaric decision that the time clock to file was when the pay inequity was created by the conpany and not when the employee learned of the inequity. So keeping salaries secret (and they only had to keep the secret for 90 days -- then the companies were free to rub the employees face in their successful deception without legal consequences) allowed companies to circumvent legal requirements of provide equal pay for equal work. Sorry but the Tea Party Republicans lost on this barbaric attempt to undermine working women and minorities in this country thanks to the current administration.

- Yep -- Tea Party Republicans support RAPISTS' RIGHTS; where the federal government will force the victim to be carry the RAPISTS' BABY to birth regardless of the health of the victim (including her death) and to add insult in injury require the victim to provide the sole support for the RAPIST'S CHILD; all while the TAXPAYER is required to pay all expenses and provide a modest income to cover luxury items to the rapist who will be fed and provided health care at in a prison facility. The rapists get free health care, free food and lodging and an income for luxury items and the government PUNISHES the victim by requiring them to give birth and care for the RAPISTS' BABIES. The Tea Party Republicans vision for JUSTICE and VICTIMS RIGHTS in the United States.

- Wow take your medicine already your starting to sound a lot like the wicked witch of the west pelosi and the world champion liar Obama. Try telling the truth now and then it is good for the soul. I guess if your a liberal you really do not have one of those do you?
- Sorry. The problem with you is that you are so blinded by ideology that you cant even accurately describe your enemies. That is a fatal flaw! It means that you will never be able to defeat your enemy...when you dont even know who it is..........Those that are against abortion do so becaue they believe that a human beings right to live trumps everything else. All of their other rights are irrelevant if they dont have that right. Which means, your rights only go as far as they dont encroach on the next person's rights. So, even as horrendous as a rape is, that baby has a right to life...no matter who his father is.
- Yep -- Tea Party Republicans support the requirement that the government prevent SOME life saving treatments to a rape victim even if she eventually dies as a result of an attack for 9 - 10 months after the initial assault.
- No one is supporting actions that would hurt ife saving measures for anyone. Please dont be that silly. Pro life supporters support life. Which means, life trumps any other issues or concerns.
- According to Tea Party Republicans abortions should be BANNED EVEN WHEN THE HEALTH OF THE MOTHER IS INVOLVED. THIS INCLUDES VICTIMS OF RAPE AND INCEST THAT WILL BE REQUIRED TO CARRY THEIR CHILDREN TO TERM OR DIE TRYING. LEGAL DEATH SENTENCES FOR ALL PREGNANT WOMEN THAT CANNOT SUCCESSFULLY CARRY THEIR CHILDREN TO BIRTH that would required intervention by a doctor.
- Variable, again, please show me these "facts." But as I said above...the Federal government does not have the Constitutional authority to spend one penny on any healthcare procedure, no matter how needed.
- In what is supposed to be the greatest country in the world, women make way less than a man. You can forget about there being any change if the Republicans get back control. The only hope for change in that department is Obama.----On our news (in Canada), this has been the topic of discussion several times. I was shocked to hear the difference in pay a women gets in the U.S. and in Canada. Also the difference between black women and black men, compared to white women and white men.

- by mmac47 October 11, 2010 7:54 PM EDT "who do you think have been in charge the last 2 yrs?" ......Obama can only do so much in 2 years. I'd say he's had his hands full with the mess that was left him and everything else. And this problem didn't come about just since he has been in office. The Republicans were running things for 8 years. The only thing on their agenda is WAR.
- Too bad Obama's Campaign did not pay women as much as the McCain campain did for the same work.

- I am with Nancy Pelosi. Republicans had the government for eight years and now we see it was their policies of anti-regulation, anti-oversight that brought the housing foreclosure mess that exposed the bank meltdown crisis. Nothing that corporate run republicans will do or have done since President Obama got in has been to help get the country out of this crisis. I do not trust that any republicans will get in and stand against McConnell or Boener to do what is right for the country. They will keep being the pawns for corporations and that is why corporations are throwing billions of dollars at them now. God help us if the corporations are our government and have no oversight and no honor.

- wrong wrong wrong. let barney franks tell you. Can you teach an old dog new tricks? In politics, the answer is usually no. Most elected officials cling to their ideological biases, despite the real-world facts that disprove their theories time and again. Most have no common sense, and most never acknowledge that they were wrong. But one huge exception to this rule is Democrat Barney Frank, chairman of the House Financial Services Committee. For years, Frank was a staunch supporter of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, the giant government housing agencies that played such an enormous role in the financial meltdown that thrust the economy into the Great Recession. But in a recent CNBC interview, Frank told me that he was ready to say goodbye to Fannie and Freddie. "I hope by next year we'll have abolished Fannie and Freddie," he said. Remarkable. And he went on to say that "it was a great mistake to push lower-income people into housing they couldn't afford and couldn't really handle once they had it." He then added, "I had been too sanguine about Fannie and Freddie."
- If an illegal alien rapes your wife or daughter and impregnates them, Cons want to force the woman to carry the pregnancy to birth so they can deport the baby.

- Nope. The official party platform for Republicans is that abortion should be illegal even in instances of rape or incest unless the mother's life is at stake. And, Republicans by a majority consider babies of illegal immigrants to be "anchor babies" and that we should send them back to Mexico.
